What is a Masala Dabba?
A masala dabba, literally translated as "spice box," is a common spice tin or box in Indian kitchens. Typically, a masala dabba contains several small cups, often sieves, placed inside a round or square box. These contain the most popular and everyday spices, such as mustard, chili, garam masala, cumin, fenugreek, various masalas, ajwain, and so on. Some antique masala dabbas are treasured heirlooms, passed down through generations within a family.
